FC 27 Coins: Is It Safe to Buy Them? Comfort Trade vs Player Auction Explained

EA Sports FC 27 went live worldwide on September 25, 2026, with Ultimate and Ultimate Plus Edition owners getting in a week earlier on September 18. That first fortnight is the most expensive part of the whole Ultimate Team year. Everybody wants a competitive squad, prices for the good cards are at their highest, and almost nobody has the coins to pay for them.

So the question lands in every FUT group chat at the same time: should you buy coins, and if you do, how do you avoid losing your club?

This is the honest version. What coins are, what EA actually allows, the two delivery methods and the specific risk each one carries, and how to keep your account safe whichever way you go.

FC 27 Coins vs FC Points: Not the Same Thing

This trips up more people than anything else, so start here.

FUT Coins are the in-game currency you earn by playing and trading. You spend them on the Transfer Market, on Squad Building Challenges, and on packs. They are what actually builds a team.

FC Points are EA's paid currency. You buy them with real money and spend them on packs and a few other items. You cannot spend FC Points on the Transfer Market, and you cannot convert them into coins.

That distinction is the whole reason a coin market exists. If you want a specific player, FC Points only give you a chance at him through packs. Coins let you buy him.

Nothing carries over. Your FC 26 coins, players, and club items stay in FC 26. Every FC 27 club starts from zero, which is exactly why launch week is when coin demand peaks.

What Changed in FC 27 That Matters for Your Wallet

EA's launch update shifted the economy in a direction that is genuinely good for players who grind. Post-match coin rewards in Rivals, Champions, and Squad Battles are higher than they were in FC 26, where a typical match paid out somewhere around 500 to 600 coins. There are more tradeable rewards across objectives, and SBCs have been streamlined.

In plain terms: the free route is better this year than last. If you have the time, you can build a respectable squad without spending anything. Coins make sense when you do not have that time, or when you want a specific card before its price climbs.

What EA's Rules Actually Say

Be clear on this before anything else, because a lot of coin sellers are not.

EA does not allow buying FUT coins from third parties. You are allowed to earn coins by playing and by selling items on the Transfer Market. Buying them breaks the User Agreement.

The penalties EA can apply range from a wiped coin balance, to a Transfer Market ban, up to a full account ban for repeat violations. Anybody who tells you coin buying carries zero risk is selling you something. The real question is not whether there is risk. It is how much, and what you do to keep it low.

Check your record first. EA has a Penalty History tool on its account bans and appeals page. If something is already on your record, deal with that before you add anything else to it.

The 5% Transfer Market Tax

Every completed sale on the Transfer Market loses 5% to EA tax. A 10,000 coin sale returns 9,500.

This matters when you compare offers. A seller quoting 100K coins might mean 100K before tax or 100K landing in your club. Always check which. A reputable seller covers the tax so the number you order is the number you receive.

Comfort Trade vs Player Auction

These are the two delivery methods you will see everywhere. Neither is risk free. They carry different risks, and picking the right one depends on how much you are buying and what platform you play on.

Player Auction

How it works: you list a cheap card, usually something worth a few hundred coins, at a massively inflated Buy Now price. The seller finds that exact listing and buys it. The coins arrive in your club as the proceeds of a sale.

What you keep: your password. You never hand over your login.

The risk: the trade itself. A bronze card selling for hundreds of thousands of coins is exactly the kind of transaction EA's systems are built to notice. The bigger the gap between the card's real value and its sale price, the more visible it is.

Best for: smaller orders, and players who are not comfortable sharing account access.

Comfort Trade

How it works: the seller logs into your account and moves the coins in directly, then logs out. This usually requires your login details and, where applicable, your EA backup codes.

What you keep: a normal looking Transfer Market history, with no absurdly overpriced sale on your record.

The risk: the login. Somebody else is accessing your account, possibly from another location, and you are trusting them with your credentials.

Best for: larger orders, and PC players, since Player Auction often is not available on PC through most sellers.

The Short Version

Player Auction protects your password and exposes the trade. Comfort Trade protects the trade and exposes your password. If you are buying a small amount, Player Auction is usually the more cautious choice. If you are buying a lot, or you play on PC, Comfort Trade is often the only practical option.

Whichever you pick, stick with it for the whole order. Mixing methods mid-order just creates more unusual activity.

New Account? Your Market Might Be Locked

EA locks the Transfer Market on new accounts until you show normal activity. The usual expectation is playing FUT matches across several days, logging into the Web or Companion App, and completing the starter objectives.

This matters for Player Auction specifically. No market access means no Player Auction, full stop. If your market is still locked, either wait until it opens or accept that Comfort Trade is your only route.

How to Keep Your Club Safe

  • Buy from a seller with a real track record and a way to contact support. Anonymous sellers in Discord DMs are how people lose both money and accounts.

  • Use a payment method that has buyer protection. Avoid anything you cannot dispute.

  • Change your password straight after a Comfort Trade, and regenerate your backup codes.

  • Do not flood the market with the coins the moment they land. Spending your whole balance in ten minutes looks less natural than building your squad over a few sessions.

  • Know your target before you buy. Decide what squad you are building so you order the amount you need and no more.

Coins Are Not the Only Option

If you want the players and not the process, there are two other routes worth considering.

Buy the account instead of the coins. A ready built club skips the whole question of moving coins into your own account. Our EA Sports FC accounts marketplace lists clubs from verified sellers, and the account value calculator shows what a comparable club is realistically worth before you spend.

Buy the specific items. If you want particular players rather than a lump sum, the EA Sports FC items marketplace and the item value calculator let you price what you actually want.

And if you do want coins, the EA Sports FC coins marketplace lets you compare sellers by price, delivery method, and delivery time, with payment held until the order is delivered. Playing on mobile? FC Mobile coins are listed separately.

New to buying on EB24? Our how to buy guide walks through the whole process, including how payment protection works.

FAQ

Can you get banned for buying FC 27 coins? Yes, it is possible. EA's rules prohibit buying coins, and penalties can range from a coin wipe to a Transfer Market ban or, for repeat violations, a permanent ban. Choosing a reputable seller and a sensible delivery method reduces the risk but does not remove it.

Do FC 26 coins carry over to FC 27? No. Coins, players, and club items reset with every new title.

Is Comfort Trade or Player Auction safer? Neither is risk free. Player Auction keeps your password private but creates a visible overpriced sale. Comfort Trade avoids that sale but requires sharing your login. Small orders generally suit Player Auction, larger orders and PC generally suit Comfort Trade.

Why is my Transfer Market locked? New accounts need to show normal activity first, such as playing FUT matches over several days and using the Web or Companion App. Until it unlocks, Player Auction is not possible.

What is the FC 27 Transfer Market tax? 5% of every completed sale.
