Regular mutations: Gold, Diamond and Rainbow
These three spawn naturally on the Red Carpet, so you can hunt them any day without waiting for Taco Tuesday or the Saturday Admin Abuse window. The reported spawn chances are 10% for Gold, 20.4% for Diamond and 1% for Rainbow.
Rainbow is the best permanent mutation. It matches Divine at 10x without any event timing, which makes it the safe target if you do not want to camp events.
Event mutations: where the big numbers are
Bloodrot, Candy, Lava, Galaxy, Yin Yang, Radioactive, Cursed, Divine, Cyber, Phantom, Crystal and Eclipse only show up when their event is running, and the chance to roll one is small. That scarcity is why a 13x or 14x brainrot is priced far above the same brainrot without a mutation. Which mutation is best?
After update 69 on October 3, 2026, Eclipse at 14x is the best mutation in the game, followed by Crystal (13x), Phantom (12x) and Cyber (11x). If you only count mutations you can get on demand, it is Rainbow.
How mutations and traits stack
You apply a mutation once, then traits add income on top of it. The formula the community uses is:
Base income x (mutation multiplier + (trait 1 - 1) + (trait 2 - 1) + ...) = final income
Example 1: a brainrot with $2.75M base income, Diamond (1.5x) and the Fire trait (6x). The result is 2.75M x (1.5 + 5) = $17.875M.
Example 2: a brainrot with $21M base income, Yin Yang (7.5x), Jack O'Lantern (5.5x) and Disco (5x). The result is 21M x (7.5 + 4.5 + 4) = $336M.
The takeaway is that traits are added, not multiplied against the mutation. A strong trait can matter as much as the mutation itself, so do not overpay for a high mutation with weak traits. Mutation index rewards
