LoL Classic is Riot Games’ recreation of an earlier era of League of Legends, running on the original Summoner’s Rift map with the item shop, champion kits and ranked ladder of that period. It launched as a separate mode with its own ranked queue, giving players a self-contained version of the game to climb.
Classic champions and gameplay
The roster is locked to roughly 40 of the original champions in their pre-rework state. Fan favourites like Annie, Ashe, Ryze, Master Yi, Garen, Katarina, Lee Sin, Thresh, Jax, Tryndamere, Teemo and Morgana all play the way veteran summoners remember them. Abilities, base stats and scaling follow the original numbers, so laning phase and teamfights feel distinctly different from live League.
The classic item shop
The shop is stocked with builds that no longer exist on the live client. Deathfire Grasp, Force of Nature, Atma’s Impaler, Philosopher’s Stone, Heart of Gold and the original Trinity Force are all back. Gold-generation items reward patient play, while burst mages keep the one-shot combo that defined an entire meta.
Ranked ladder and progression
The Classic ladder runs Salt, Wood, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond, with four divisions in each tier numbered IV up to I. Above Diamond sits Legend, a single tier with no divisions inside it. Salt IV is the floor of the ladder and Legend is the ceiling. Nothing is banked between games: win enough and the account moves straight from one division into the next, which is why a Summoner Journey order is priced from the two divisions you name rather than from a running total.
Ranked sits behind a level 30 gate, so a fresh account works through level up boosting before the ladder opens at all. Whether you are returning to a system you once knew or meeting it for the first time, LoL Classic offers a competitive ladder with its own meta, its own items and its own champion pool, wrapped in the map and client that started it all.
