EB24 about Teamfight tactics #6 - How to make a difference in low elo games - Patch 9.22
Today we will talk about the game. But this one will be a little different from the others. Because it is going to be from a player who plays in lower leagues than her/his original league. The reason for this guide is to prepare everyone to play against diamonds or higher leagues. But that is not the case for most TFT players due to your opponents in lower leagues making things differently and this creates different opportunities for you.
I believe those opportunities will also help you get more victories instead of 3rd or 4th places. So let's start about the main points you need to have to win your games as much as possible!
- Compositions
First thing that differs lower leagues from higher one is the diversity of compositions. While there are some people trying to do something according to the meta, there are also a lot of people trying things out of meta.
Apparently they are not working because they have tried before and did not succeed. This causes strong meta comp to be more accessible. You can take a look at them here. So, forcing these comps becomes a lot easier in low elo games.
Secondly, you don’t need to buy only the champions that are going to be in your comp. Especially in the early game, do not try to get the synergies that you want. You should make as much 2-star unit as you can and try to get some synergy with those for you to hold the early game. If you have a comp in mind, you can collect those on your bench and put them on the field when they become strong enough. Until then, making early game comps to preserve your health is an essential part.
- Items
Items might be the most important thing in the game. With the correct items, each champion can become a monster or a clown. You can see a lot of people intentionally losing at first rounds in streams or tournaments. That is because they want to get the essential items for the meta comps from the carousel. But in low elo games, people do not know which items are good and which ones are bad. So I believe you should not try to lose streak tactic because you can even see a spatula available even if you got out last.
Another important thing is that, according to my observations, most people stay AFK at the start of the game in low elo games. Most people ignore the first carousel but it might be a deciding factor to go into a winning streak or a losing streak game. That is why you should never pass the first carousel and try to get a good item or champion from there. Maybe both…
For the last part, there are a lot of people who make their items rot on the bench for decades and that is really bad because items are too important for winning rounds. Unless you want to lose intentionally, you should make OP items like Morellonomicon or Hand of Justice and put those items on the champions that you are not going to use in your comp. You can even put items without combining with anything to your sellable champions. For the sake of your health, use your items.
- Positioning
Another thing that high elo players do is, looking at others positioning and constantly changing the position of their carriers. They do that because they don't want their carriers to get one shot from assassins or get stunned at the start of the game.
But in low elo games, people don't do that usually until they are 1v1 or lose badly. You can easily use this to your advantage. There are many ways to use this opportunity. For example, you can change your comp and put 1 or 2 assassins to kill his/her carry if it's on the back and alone. Or you can put a Malphite to your comp if he/she puts all her/his units together. This is valid for every elo but in lower elo games it is more effective. By the way, it would be better if you do those at the last second, just in case.
- Economy and leveling times
As you know, when we level up, the chances of getting higher tier champions becomes higher. Low elo players love to press that reroll button more than anything else. Because of that, most of the players in low elo can not level up at proper times because they usually do not have enough money. That means if you follow the guides that we prepared, you are going to be higher level than others in lower elo games. (Not above diamond because they usually follow the same patterns for leveling up.) With that, you can find the higher tier units in your comp more easily.
- Hotkeys
Lastly, this game might be a lot chiller than other games, you can play it with only your mouse while lying down on your bed. But if you want to do things faster (You should do things faster if you want to get better results.) you have to use hotkeys. There are a lot of people losing rounds just because they could not spend all of his/her money until the start of their turn or worse losing games… If you are looking for something you should get those before the round starts. And that 30 seconds is too small for your mouse if you want to spend a lot of gold.
