EB24 About League of Legends - Patch 12.5 Analysis by Yoshi
Hello, Summoners! Patch 12.5 is small compared with previous patches but interesting changes were done! Renata didn’t seem to be broken but very interesting to play with and against. Our worries were quickly doubted by the fact her W looks to be more powerful than her Ultimate ability. Who would have expected that?
Since the patch is really short with some nerfs and buffs, one champion received an entire change in how the abilities are perceived, and that’s Master Yi! He will be the star in the current patch and likely the most tested throughout these 2 weeks. My name’s Yoshi and in this Patch 12.5 Rundown we shall present:
- Champion Changes
- Item Changes
- Upcoming Skins
- Summary
Champion Changes
Ahri
W - Fox-Fire
Damage 60/85/110/135/160 (+30% AP) ⇒ 50/75/100/125/150 (+30% AP) - Nerfed
Mana Cost 25 ⇒ 30

E - Charm
Mana Cost 50 ⇒ 60 - Nerfed
Even though this change is relatively low, it has a deep meaning. Since Ahri was semi-reworked it was easy to notice how strong she has become. Her W gives her Movement Speed, which is really strong when you are traveling. Dueling is even stronger due to her high base damage and cooldown. Killing minions is also easier because it is way easier now to target minions with low health. Her mana cost on W was so low she could cast it anytime she had it available. Ahri still remains strong but Riot wants people to pay more attention to the mana costs she has instead of playing her in Ultra Rapid Fire game mode.
Gwen
Passive - Thousand Cuts
Maximum Damage Against Monsters 10 (+25% AP) ⇒ 10 (+15% AP) - Nerfed

E - Skip ‘n Slash
Bonus Attack Range 100 ⇒ 50 - Nerfed
Gwen has been strong in pro play since the preseason. Her capabilities to kite melee champions using her E and Lethal Tempo rune were a strong kit that sooner or after had to be nerfed. By looking at the numbers, the range was lowered by a half! That’s a very strong nerf that will hurt Gwen, especially in the laning phase. I do not really think it will impact further stages of the game. However, these are happening before the 10th minute.
Kennen
W - Electrical Surge
Basic Attack Bonus Magic Damage at Full Stacks 20/30/40/50/60 (+60/70/80/90/100% bonus AD) (+25% AP) ⇒ 35/45/55/65/75 (+80/90/100/110/120% bonus AD) (+35% AP) - Buffed
This is the first spell we consider when we’re playing Kennen in the early game. Early poke is so crucial for Kennen to keep advantage especially on the top lanem that’s why the 75% buff on base damage of Kennen’s W in my opinion is gonna SHOCK the meta. Since we’re not having much Ability Power at the early stage of the game, I consider this as a very strong buff for Kennen that might result in him appearing more in patch 12.5.
Master Yi
Q - Alpha Strike
Damage 25/60/95/130/165 (+90% AD), reduced by 75% for subsequent hits on the same target ⇒ 30/60/90/120/150 (+60% AD), reduced by 75% for subsequent hits on the same target - Nerfed
Bonus Damage from Critical Strikes 60% (+ bonus critical strike damage %) ⇒ 50% (+ bonus critical strike damage %) - Nerfed
MANY FOES, MANY STRIKES Each mark of Q - Alpha Strike now applies on-hit effects including his E - Wuju Style (on-hit effects from subsequent hits are also reduced by 75%) - New
SLOWER BUT STILL STEADY Q - Alpha Strike's cooldown reduction upon attacks now scales down with Ability Haste. For example, if Master Yi has 100 Ability Haste, each on-hit now reduces its cooldown by 0.5 seconds (instead of 1). - Adjusted
TAKE YOUR TIME Q - Alpha Strike's cast time no longer counts against his E - Wuju Style and R - Highlander active durations (similar to W - Meditate) - Adjusted
WUJU BELIEVE THAT Master Yi can now activate E - Wuju Style and R - Highlander during his Q - Alpha Strike - Adjusted

E - Wuju Style
True Damage 30/40/50/60/70 (+35% bonus AD) ⇒ 30/38/46/54/62 (+35% bonus AD) - Nerfed
It may look like Master Yi was completely nerfed in this patch and you are right because most of his basic spells was nerfed in case of damage. However, let me tell you the change with applying on-hit effects is something that might get out of control. We can literally see people playing Master Yi jungle anywhere in any division now because one of the most powerful items Blade Of The Ruined King works perfectly with synergies Master Yi has received in the current patch. I think that change is reasonable but definitely makes him overpowered. He might receive a few nerfs in the next patch but I assume they won’t make him any worse than Master Yi from the previous patches. More mechanics applied to extend cast time means more options to builds. I think it’s a great change for him.
Miss Fortune
W - Strut
I AM SPEED Miss Fortune now spawns with the maximum amount of movespeed granted by Strut's passive - Buffed
A little touch for Miss Fortune not to make her forgotten in the current season. That small change will make her appear on the lane a few seconds earlier than it was before.
Samira
Base Stats
Health Growth 88 ⇒ 94 - Buffed
Health at Level 18 2026 ⇒ 2128 - Buffed
Armor Growth 3 ⇒ 3.5 - Buffed
Armor at Level 18 77 ⇒ 85.5 - Buffed

R - Inferno Trigger
Cooldown 8 seconds ⇒ 5 seconds - Buffed
Despite the survival buffs she received, an Ultimate buff seems to be a very powerful kit for Samira, especially when the Laning phase ends and the game slowly turns to a mid-game fight. Samira has a possibility to TRIGGER her Inferno more frequently. A very strong buff which might bring her back to the meta.
Seraphine
W - Surround Sound
Mana Cost 50/70/90/110/130 ⇒ 50/60/70/80/90 - Buffed
Cooldown 26/25/24/23/22 seconds ⇒ 28/26/24/22/20 seconds - Adjusted
Shield 75-225 (levels 1-18) (+45% AP) ⇒ 60/80/100/120/140 (+40% AP) - Adjusted
Ally Shields 50-150 (levels 1-18) (+30% AP) ⇒ 60/80/100/120/140 (+40% AP) (Note: Allies now receive the same shield amount as Seraphine) - Adjusted
Healing (If Already Shielded) 5% (+1.125% per 100 AP) of missing health per ally in range ⇒ 5/5.5/6/6.5/7% (+0.75% per 100 AP) of missing health per ally in range - Adjusted

E - Beat Drop
Cooldown 13/12/11/10/9 seconds ⇒ 11/10.5/10/9.5/9 seconds - Buffed
I think most of these changes are targeted towards Seraphine that could be played as an AP Mid-laner. If we consider her being played as a support, we might consider it a slight nerf. But, if we stack more Ability Power, for example by building Luden’s Tempest or Liandry’s Torment, we might actually get way more value out of Seraphine than we could previously. I think that’s a very complex change that requires time to see whether it was worth applying or not.
Xin Zhao
E - Audacious Charge
Cooldown 11 seconds ⇒ 12 seconds - Nerfed

R - Crescent Guard
Invulnerability Duration 5 seconds ⇒ 4 seconds - Nerfed
Even after changes for items that Xin received in the previous patches, he still was highly present in the jungle. His capability to hold in front for so long became so difficult to deal with, that he had to receive some changes towards it before it got out of hand. This was a very good nerf.
Item changes
Hullbreaker
Passive - Boarding Party
Bonus Armor and Magic Resist 20-60 (levels 1-18) ⇒ [20-60 (levels 1-18) for melee/10-30 (levels 1-18) for ranged] - Nerfed
Siege and Super Minion Bonus Armor and Magic Resist 60-180 (levels 1-18) ⇒ [60-180 (levels 1-18) for melee/30-90 (levels 1-18) for ranged] - Nerfed
We can clearly see what that change is supposed to look like. In the previous patches, 12.3 and 12.4, we witnessed constant fights on the top lane with the accompaniment of Hullbreaker. He was built practically by ANY champion. It is not bad if the item is trendy. It’s about how powerful it was for champions that were especially using that advantage by being ranged. That nerf is targeted directly at them and I am so grateful Riot implemented that change. Good Job, Riot!

Summary
Here we come to the end of Patch Rundown 12.5. Even for a short patch, there were broad and very interesting changes for Master Yi and Seraphine. Do you think that’s a good idea to change them? There might be plenty of other champions that require further changes. Riot follows the end of the current patch with the announcement that 2020 Prestige Points will not be available anymore after patch 12.5. So, get your points before it’s too late! Also, the “Bee-featured” skins, which one is your favorite? You can share your opinion on our socials:

I hope you will find the changes acceptable because that’s the key essence of League of Legends as it implements a huge amount of changes. Without them, the game would be boring.
That's the end of the 12.5 Patch Rundown! Here was Yoshi. Stay tuned to the recent events and content coming up almost every day. See you on the next patch! :)
