EB24 about TFT – Patch 12.2 analysis by AceOfSpades
The new patch 12.2 is live and it brings many changes to the meta for us. My name is AceofSpades and here are the biggest takeaways from this patch;
1. The chance of finding 5 cost units has been reduced from 5% to 4%. This is a huge nerf for comps like Syndicate and Innovator that require the 5-cost for their 7 unit chase trait.
2. Mercenary will get nerfed.
3. Heimerdinger will get a buff and Yordle will look strong next patch.
4. The Orianna/Seraphine Chalice build is getting nerfed on all sides. Times look grim for this comp.
5. Sion nerfs is a huge buff for Arcanists and Urgot comps.
Best Comps for 12.2
Let’s talk about some comps that will make a comeback this patch.
Cho’Gath

Cho’Gath buffs will help mutant advance to A tier comp this patch, and with more people turning towards re-roll 3 cost champions, it will be a lot easier to hit as well.
Urgot

The Urgot buff is very significant and with the nerfs to his main counter (Sion), the comp is back to S-tier. This is a really good comp to play if you have cut-throat augment.
Fiora
It’s not only older comps that will dominate the meta. There is a new comp going around.
With Sion nerfed, I feel strongly about this comp that Rank 2 KR has been playing a lot. It uses Fiora as main carry and a combination of Orianna+Seraphine for support.

For this comp, it’s possible to use Taric over Orianna, and Kai’Sa over the Scholar buff, especially if you happen to find a +1 Scholar.
Items on Fiora are surprisingly, unimportant. If you have items for Orianna and Seraphine, then you shouldn’t stress items for Fiora too much. This comp is very good at using both AP and AD items. Even Thief Gloves can be really strong.
You can upgrade to Kai’Sa 2* and transfer items to her from Fiora.
