It’s the end of the first half of Gizmos & Gadgets. But hey, don’t worry as the future looks good with the new set. Neon Nights is here, bringing new augments, cosmetics, units, and more.

Let’s talk about how this changes the game and the comps we get to play;

1. Almost all 4 cost champions have been changed. The biggest change is Janna’s removal with no one taking her place as Scholar and Enchanter.  Now the meta comps will all look quite different. She used to be splashed in almost all the comps and now you will have to play different support units in different comps.

2. For the most part, the items didn’t change. The only difference is Guardian Angel has been replaced by Edge of Night.

3. This set will have a lot more 4 cost AD carries than A. We now expect the meta to be mostly AD-dominated.

And now here comes my top 5 pick for comps to play this patch!

Best Comps on this new Set and Patch

Rat Reroll

Starting item: Bow will build both LW and Hurricane, which are very good early game items. This comp is S tier and also really easy to play. I suggest open forcing until stage 3-2, then slow rolling until you’ve upgraded Twitch and ½ of your other 1 costs to 3* at least. You can then focus on levelling up to reach level 8 to play 5 innovators.

Reroll comps are very good during the starting periods of the new set when the comps are not well polished and understood. It also removes the need to know perfectly all units of the set since you are only concerned with the specific units you need for your build.

Talon Reroll

Starting item: Bow is the most important item since the core piece to make Talon work is RFC. It also helps that you can flex between this comp and Twitch reroll. In my opinion, two-tricking those comps can make a climb to Master very easy.

Early game: I suggest open forcing until stage 3-2, playing Yordles while at it for more econ, if possible. The only champion you need to care about is Talon. Other than that, focus on making as much econ as possible. You will need it at 3-2 when you will have to level up to 6 and roll till you find the 6 core champions. Be sure to have Talon 2* and a couple more of 2*. Don’t stop rolling till you find him 2*!

For your late game, you just need to level up and play more assassins.

Scrapers Irelia

Starting item: Bow. For this comp having an LW is mandatory.

Early game: Ezreal is the king of the early game and building LW or Hurricane on a 2* Ezreal should mean a winning streak till stage 3. Playing 2 Scrapers and Innovators or 4 Scrapers is your best choice and is also one of the strongest possible openers.

It’s a really solid comp, being the most consistent top 4 comps right now. Even though it might not be the strongest at level 9, it still provided everything you need to climb. Make sure to put your Irelia on the Socialite spot.

Hextechs

Starting item: Bow, as it’s the best starting item. You can build either RB, GS or Shiv as these are good items on Sivir.

Early game: 4 Hextechs is very strong and Lucian is the best carry to use if you can.  Alternatively, you can also use Nocturne to carry the items for Sivir. If you play Lucian, be sure to use Twinshots. Also, if you play Noc, be sure to play at least 1 Assassin.

Use SSS tier comp for sure as it’s very easy to play since it relies on a vertical trait and you don’t really need to flex anything for it.

Mutato Chocolato

Starting item: Armor, not a bow! Cho’gath really likes Bramble Vest, without it, the late game will be painful.

Early game: Play this comp only when you open with a Cho’gath or Malzahar. 3 mutants+Bruisers.

The best Mutation is imo the mana reduction. The others are fine as well. Be sure to remain level 7 until you’ve upgraded Cho or Malz to 3* before using your spike to get to level 8 and add Alistar.
