New Placement Matches Policy for LOL, TFT, Valorant

The gaming world is always evolving, and with it, the policies that shape our play. Recently, significant updates have been made to the placement match policies for popular games like League of Legends (LoL), Teamfight Tactics (TFT), and Valorant. Last Known Rank Clarification

A key aspect of these updates is the alignment of the account's MMR with the order requirements. For instance, if you're playing on a Diamond account with Master MMR in LoL, you should select Master as your last known rank. This clarification ensures fair and balanced matchmaking in placement matches.

Guaranteed Wins Policy in League of Legends

In LoL, the new policy introduces a system of guaranteed wins for placement matches. The policy stipulates that:

  • For 5 placement matches, players are guaranteed 4 wins (Unranked to Master) and 3 wins (Grandmaster and Challenger).
  • This guarantee scales down with the number of placement matches played, ensuring players have a clear expectation of their potential ranking outcome.

Guaranteed Wins Policy in Teamfight Tactics

In TFT, the new policy introduces a system of guaranteed wins for placement matches. The policy stipulates that:

  • For 5 placement matches, players are guaranteed 4 wins (Unranked to Master) and 3 wins (Grandmaster and Challenger).
  • This guarantee scales down with the number of placement matches played, ensuring players have a clear expectation of their potential ranking outcome.

Guaranteed Wins Policy in Valorant


Valorant, too, has adopted a similar policy

  • Players can expect 4 guaranteed wins for 5 placement matches in ranks up to Immortal and 3 wins at Radiant.
  • As with LoL and TFT, the number of guaranteed wins adjusts according to the number of placement matches.

Should the guaranteed win count not be met, players will receive wins equal to their losses. However, it's important to note that compensation will not exceed a full division if the total win rate is 50% or above. This safeguard ensures that players are fairly compensated while maintaining the integrity of the ranking system. This guarantee scales down with the number of placement matches played, ensuring players have a clear expectation of their potential ranking outcome.

Here we have our Newest blog for patch 11.6 and let’s see if the new changes impacted our Tier Lists in anyways! The content of this blog post is as follows:

  • Tier List for each role
  • Small note(s) about the differences compared to the tier lists from the last patch
  • Recommendations on best champions for each role

Tier Lists

 

  • Toplane

S+ Tier: Gnar, Darius, Cho’Gath, Malphite, Urgot

S Tier: Camille, Irelia, Viego, Gragas, Sion

A tier: Riven, Sett, Mordekaiser, Riven, Jayce, Voli, Ornn, Renekton, Aatrox

B tier: Nasus, Shen

Notes:

Gnar and Urgot are dominating soloQ right now, they are really good in the laning phase and also in later team fights. Cho’Gath and Malphite are still good options in my opinion, they are stable and really strong in team fights for objectives.

Recommendations: Darius, Gnar, Urgot, or Malphite.

 

  • Jungle

S+ Tier: Udyr, Hecarim, Kha’Zix

S Tier: Viego, Graves, Kayn, Ekko, Olaf, Karthus, Nunu Ivern

A Tier: Shyvana, Rammus, Elise, , Evelynn, Gragas

B tier: Master Yi, Nidalee, Lillia, Nocturne, Shaco

 

Notes:

Gragas’s Q CD got flattened, so he’s been moved to A tier. Udyr and Hecarim are dominating soloQ on all elos right now.

Recommendations: Highly recommend playing Udyr, Hecarim, Kha’Zix, and Viego. They are incredibly fast and have really good camp clear. They are probably one of the best duelists right now.

 

  • Midlane

S+ Tier: Fizz, Yone, Yasuo, Galio, Ahri

S tier: Viktor, Twisted Fate, Anivia, Kassadin,

A tier: Annie, Le Blanc, Sylas, Orianna, Pantheon, Seraphine, Viego, Qiyana

B tier: Vladimir, Ahri, Ekko

 

Notes:

With the Everfrost buffs, more champions were added to the midlane champion pool. Right now Ahri is one of the strongest champions, of course, next to Kassadin, Fizz, Yone, and Yasuo in soloQ.

Recommendations: Ahri, Fizz, Kassadin, and Yone.

 

  • ADC

S+ Tier: Kaisa, Vayne, Jhin, Tristana

S Tier: Samira, Xayah, Senna

A Tier: Ezreal, Kog’Maw, AP Twitch

B Tier: Kalista, Miss fortune, Lucian


Notes:

Kog’Maw added to A Tier after buffs. AP Twitch still good, don’t play it ad tho!

Recommendations: Kai’Sa, Vayne, Jhin, and, Tristana.

 

  • Support

BUGFIX Fixed a bug where Sterak's Gage's Bloodlust passive would not heal the user for each champion they were in combat with

Now Sterak’s Gage give healing on the first stack and then 50% less healing on the next stack.

MEJAI’S BUGFIX Viego no longer loses stacks on Mejai’s Soulstealer and Dark Seal when possessing an enemy, and now gains the Mejai’s and Dark Seal’s stacks of enemies he possesses

TOO FAR BUGFIX Fixed a bug where Viego could sometimes possess an enemy soul from extreme ranges if cast right at the start of another possession

TOO SOON BUGFIX Fixed a bug where Viego would sometimes instantly possess souls without the 1 second cast time.

PASSIVE - SOVEREIGN’S DOMINATION

SHOCK Basic attacks and abilities deal 2.5% max mana as bonus damage against champions ⇒ Basic attacks deal 1.5% max mana as bonus damage. Melee abilities deal 3.5% max mana as bonus damage and ranged abilities deal 2.7% max mana as bonus damage; all abilities also deal +6% total AD as bonus damage against champions (on-hit attacks that trigger spell effects count as abilities for this purpose)

SHOCK BUGFIX Fixed a bug where damaging abilities would proc Shock's bonus damage once per ability, and should now only proc once per champion per ability

Interesting change, don't know how it will impact the current meta, but I'm pretty sure it's gonna be played on more champions than it was in the last patch.

 

STRIDEBREAKER

HALTING SLASH DASH RANGE 200 ⇒ 300

HALTING SLASH DASH SPEED Slightly increased

HALTING SLASH SLOW DECAY 60% over 2 seconds ⇒ 40% over 2 seconds

Dash range increased, dash animation speed increased, slow Decay lowered by 20% and ad ratio lowered by 25%. 

I think this item will still be played on most of the bruisers.

 

GUINSOO'S RAGEBLADE

WRATH Convert every 1% critical strike chance into 2 bonus physical damage on-hit, with a maximum of 100% critical strike chance. Wrath’s on-hit damage conversion is now affected by critical strike damage modifiers.

SERPENT’S FANG

SHIELD REAVER Dealing damage to an enemy champion reduces any shields they gain by 50% for melee champions and 25% for ranged champions for the next three seconds. When you damage an enemy who is unaffected by Shield Reaver, reduce all shields on them by 50% for melee champions and 25% for ranged champions.

ON-HIT ITEM BUGFIX Fixed a bug where Serpent's Fang's Shield Reaver passive would not reduce an enemy's shields if the user had any on-hit items equipped

Small update for this item, but to be completely honest its only gonna be played against full shield enemy team, which are rare.

Interesting changes to Black Cleaver. Per every item’s passive stack you get 5 ms for 2 seconds.

IN-GAME SHOP UPDATES

The shop continued to assimilate knowledge at an alarming rate and has reached a new level of awareness. (It keeps asking us to nerf Ornn.) 

Introducing Starter Bundles: The recommended view will now offer you the most popular combination of items players start with instead of just the first item. (Hint: It's usually potions.) Saved you some clicks!

The font rendering has been improved in the item and search detail views. It was LiTeRaLy UnPlAyAbLe, but now it's fixed.

Additional bug fixes and performance improvements. Added 2 HP to the shop to round the number off.

Shureyla's Battlesong now properly appears in the Item Shop when filtering for "Ability Power" or "Mana & Regeneration"

LEAGUE CLIENT: Discovered and fixed an issue that would cause players to be stuck at the "Waiting for Stats" screen instead of directing the player to their end-of-game lobby

LEAGUE CLIENT: Fixed various rendering issues around the Match History graphs and statistics

LEAGUE CLIENT: Fixed a bug that sometimes prevented players from trading champions in Champ Select

Heartseeker Quinn's recall SFX now play properly

Camille's W - Tactical Sweep heal now properly takes into account her outer cone bonus damage, not the inner cone damage

Fixed a bug where Tryndamere would be able to die through his R - Undying Rage if hit with a CC ability empowered by Horizon Focus

Bonus damage from Muramana and Ravenous Hydra's Cleave passive now properly triggers with every attack after Urgot's W - Purge is activated, not just the first attack

Ranged champions now properly benefit from Doran's Shield's Endure and Recovery passives

Fixed a bug where Udyr was able to trigger Tear of the Goddess' mana charge with every attack

Fixed a bug where Runaan's Hurricane's bolts would generate additional stacks of Conqueror

Certain champions now properly receive experience when a dragon is defeated during the time they are untargetable through an ability (Master Yi, Xayah, Zed, Kayn, Maokai, Yuumi)

Ravenous Hydra's Cleave passive now behaves more consistently across similar abilities

Fixed a bug where Ezreal would not trigger Runaan's Hurricane when casting Q - Mystic Shot and turning around at the same time

Fixed a bug where if Shyvana's W - Burnout was active, Ravenous Hydra's Cleave passive would not work after the first attack

Relic Shield's Spoils of War kills from a support now properly count towards Viktor's Passive - Glorious Evolution and Cull stacks

Samira's R - Infernal Trigger now properly applies Ravenous Hydra's Cleave passive
