When playing League of Legends, its client program allows players to socialize with each other before the game begins. However, if you’d rather be left alone, you can exercise the option to appear offline so that nobody can bother you while you’re playing. Being able to play LoL in offline mode is easy enough once you know how to do it.
LoL’s client has on the right side a list of your friends, along with their current status. On this bar, you use this as a means to either add people you know so you can contact them or remove people should the need arise. This is used as a means to reach out to each other if you wish to play a game together, chat, or perhaps even watch each other’s games as a spectator.
Why Appear Offline?
There are a number of reasons why a player wants to appear offline while playing League of Legends. The most common are players finding themselves too busy trying to get their own tasks taken care of instead of wasting time on chatty distractions.
There are some players who’d rather not have an audience watch them play a game. They prefer privacy, even if some of their best friends happen to be playing LoL as well. This is especially true if one is opting to play solo without having to inform their friends. You simply want to be left alone to do your own thing. Perhaps, you concentrate better during gameplay when the inconvenience of conversations doesn’t get in the way.
Furthermore, when using an Elo boosting service, you don’t want your friends to notice a hired booster is currently processing your order while you’re away from the game yourself.
LoL Offline Mode Instructions
So if you want to play League of Legends in offline mode, here is one way to go about it;
Click the Windows button on the keyboard - make sure you’re logged out of LoL
Type the RUN command as administrator
Enter the command according to the nation-appointed platform you’re playing on. You only need to enter the one but it has to be the right one.

Once the command has been entered, press the enter button. “OK” should appear in the command box.
When you open the game next time you should appear offline.
When you’re ready to go back into online mode, repeat the same procedure you used to appear offline. This time, the command prompt will be; netsh advfirewall firewall delete rule name=”lolchat” and hit the enter button.
Should you experience problems getting this command to work, go back to see where you went wrong. Did you remember to run the cmd.exe function as an administrator? This is important if you want this to work.
Deceive Offline
There’s another method that can have you appear offline while playing League of Legends. There is a third-party software program called Deceive that blocks the connection to LoL’s chat servers. This program prevents your friends from being able to tell if you’re logged into your account or not. Deceive is a safe and legal program to use. It won’t steal any of your data or do anything funky to your game and computer.
Deceive is a downloadable program. Once downloaded and installed, be sure to access League of Legends through its client and not the one provided by LoL. This has to be launched in Admin mode or else it won’t work.
Because Deceive is a third-party program, there may be the occasional performance issue. Deceive is reliable enough to use and works on all servers and is an alternative option if the command prompt method isn’t working for you. When you want to play LoL in offline mode, use Deceive’s client instead of LoL’s. When ready to play online with your friends again, go through LoL’s client. Will this mess with your champions and your gameplay? No. Will it affect your Elo stats? No.
Is it risky to use Deceive? No. Again, it’s 100% legal and 100% safe. The only time Deceive has issues with LoL is when LoL has done an update of some sort. In order to adjust, Deceive has to do the same. That’s really the only time Deceive has been known to encounter issues. This is no different than any other alternative clients that have been used on other games to access the internet.
