All Free League of Legends Classic Icon Codse, and the Pattern That Tells You the Next One

Riot is handing out free profile icons to celebrate League Classic, each one built from a champion's original 2009 era portrait. There is no announcement schedule, no roadmap, and no warning. Codes appear on Riot's channels, get shared around, and then quietly stop working.

So this is the working list, how to redeem it in about twenty seconds, and one detail about how these codes are constructed that nobody seems to have pointed out yet.

CC-CLASS-ANNIE-T0123

CC-CLASS-ALIST-T0123

Annie and Alistar were the first two out and they are already dead. That is the whole lesson here: these expire fast and Riot does not publish an end date. If a code is live when you read this, redeem it now rather than after your next game.

The Pattern

Look at the codes next to each other and the structure is obvious.

CC-CLASS-XXXXX-T0123, where the X's are the first five letters of the champion's name.

WARWI for Warwick. MORGA for Morgana. ANNIE for Annie. ALIST for Alistar. And when the name is shorter than five letters, it gets padded, which is why Nunu becomes NUNUX rather than NUNU.

Every code released so far follows it, including the suffix, which has not changed once.

I am not going to promise you that guessing works, because Riot still has to actually activate a code on their end before it does anything. But it costs you nothing to try, and if you have a favourite champion in the Classic roster who has not had a code yet, the redemption page is right there and it will simply tell you no.

How To Redeem

In the client: click the plus icon next to your RP in the top right, choose Prepaid Cards & Codes at the bottom, paste the code, accept the terms, confirm.

On the web: go to Riot's redemption page at shop.riotgames.com/en-us/redeem/, sign in with your Riot account, paste the code, and confirm on the next screen.

Two things worth knowing:

Copy it exactly. The redemption page is case sensitive and a single stray space will fail the redemption. If a code you are certain is live refuses to work, check for a trailing space before assuming it expired.

Icons can take up to 24 hours to appear. Riot's own page says so. In practice almost everyone sees them land instantly, but if your collection looks unchanged, wait before panicking.

Yes, They Work Outside Classic

This is the part people get wrong and it is a nice surprise.

These icons are not locked to League Classic. Once redeemed, they sit in your normal icon collection and you can equip them in any mode, including regular Summoner's Rift. So you get to run a 2009 Warwick portrait in a modern ranked game, which is a very cheap way to make your profile look like it has been around since the beta.

That is a real distinction from most of the other Classic cosmetics. The Classic skins, Classic chromas, and the new Loading Screen portraits are restricted to the Classic mode. The icons are not.

Other Free Classic Things Worth Grabbing

While you are collecting, there are a couple of other giveaways running alongside the icon codes.

Twitch drops. There has been a week long Twitch promotion offering the Nidalee Too Tanky emote as a drop. Link your Riot account to Twitch and watch a participating channel.

Gifted subs. Gifting a subscription to any League Partner's Twitch channel has been granting the Pre-Void Kassadin Classic skin. That one costs money, obviously, but it is worth knowing about if you were going to sub to somebody anyway.

Loading Screen portraits are a genuinely new cosmetic type introduced with this mode, and they start at 950 RP in the shop. Worth knowing they exist, and worth knowing they only work inside Classic, before you spend on one expecting to see it in your normal games.

Where New Codes Show Up First

Riot has been releasing these in batches with almost no fanfare, mostly through the official League of Legends social accounts. That is where a new code surfaces before it spreads to aggregator sites, which matters when the active window is measured in days.

Given the pattern above and the champions already covered, the roster still has plenty of names without a code. If you play any of them, it is worth checking back.

The Short Version

Redeem CC-CLASS-WARWI-T0123, CC-CLASS-MORGA-T0123, and CC-CLASS-NUNUX-T0123 right now. Do not wait for the weekend, because Annie and Alistar did not last that long either. The icons are free, they take twenty seconds each, and unlike most of the Classic cosmetics you can actually use them everywhere.
