Every League of Legends Champion Characters in Arcane - EB24
Riot Games introduced the League of Legends video game as a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) in October 2009, and it quickly became a global sensation among millions of gamers. This is still the case today, perhaps even more so since the debut of Arcane: League of Legends in November 2021. The League of Legends heroes in Arcane were brought to life as an animated series distributed by Netflix. Season 1 met with universal acclaim and a loyal fan following that watched its two primary characters, Violet (Vi) and Powder (Jinx).
Additional Arcane League of Legends characters from season one included Ambessa, Caitlyn, Ekko, Heimerdinger, Jayce, Mel, Silco, Vander, and Viktor. These Arcane heroes in League of Legends are familiar names in the LoL gaming community. Arcane Season 1 offered viewers a taste of official League of Legends lore with these characters on the show. This includes the utopian-style city of Piltover and the undercity of Zaun.
The success of Arcane's first season earned a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program in 2022 and an Annie Award for Best General Audience Animated Television Broadcast Production. The LoL characters in Arcane won over the hearts of millions of fans, many of whom were anxious to try the in-game version of each playable character, especially Jinx and Vi. As soon as Arcane reached the end of season 1, fans of the game and the Netflix series cried out for a season two.
Arcane Season 2
The pleas of the fans anxious to see their League champions again were answered in November 2024 when all characters in Arcane returned in season 2. Although Silco was killed off in the first season of Arcane, this beloved LoL champion continued to make appearances throughout the second season of Arcane. Each playable champion in the first season of Arcane shows was further explored in season two. Many fans of the game watched various champions from League of Legends throughout Arcane and its splash art display of its steampunk theme.
Sisters Vi and Jinx remain the primary Arcane LoL heroes as they continue their awkward rivalry from season one. Fans will recall Jinx's super mega death rocket was fired against Piltover just after the death of her mentor, Silco. This firecracker of a champion Arcane character engineered further animosity shared between Piltover and Zaun as a result. It would dictate the course of the second and final season of the Netflix series Arcane.
Season 2 also focused on the rift between Jayce and Viktor. It also peered further into the "black rose" and the complex mother/daughter relationship between Ambessa Medarda, the Noxian warlord, and her daughter, Mel. League of Legends players recognize each champion in Arcane as a character in the game.
As for Caitlyn, another champion in League of Legends game lore, fans witnessed one of their most beloved Legends champions in Arcane demonstrate why she's so popular among competitive LoL players. Caitlyn appears in the first season as a rookie cadet before blossoming into a stronger role in season 2. This was also the case for other characters as they brought the animated series Arcane lots of action, straight up to the end of season 2.
League of Legends Champion Characters on the Show
Arcane's first season introduces two classic League of Legends to its audience, Vi and Powder. As young sisters, they're accompanied by Mylo and Claggor as they rummage through a Piltover apartment for anything useful they can bring back to Zaun with them. Powder finds magic crystals before she and her companions hear the apartment's owner returning home. They flee before they are discovered.
As fate had it, it was Jayce's apartment the kids had plundered. According to Arcane's storyline, Jayce was working on an invention that would later be referred to as Hextech. Although season one focused heavily on the love/hate relationship between Vi and Powder/Jinx, Jayce was another popular League of Legends character in Arcane. His story revealed a childhood friendship with Caitlyn, a friendly and professional partnership with Viktor, and romantic relations with Mel Medarda.
Throughout season one, as well as season two, we're introduced to a collection of several beloved League of Legends characters. Some of their roles in Arcane were short-lived, while others endured the full two seasons. Devout fans of LoL can easily spot similarities and differences between the League of Legends Arcane characters in game and what's depicted in the series.
Let's quickly peer into some of these beloved Arcane heroes in LoL and why both seasons of this animated series became so popular.
Arcane League of Legends: Vi and Jinx
Season One: The Sisterly Rivalry Begins
The first season of Netflix's Arcane series introduced Vi and Jinx as two young sisters. As kids, Jinx was referred to as Powder. This changed due to a chain of violent events that led to the deaths of their friends, Mylo and Claggor. This, plus losing their guardian, Vander, after his confrontation with Silco, was enough to push Vi over the edge. Once she learns that Zaun's explosion killed those closest to her was caused by Powder, Vi calls her younger sister a jinx. It was a bitter parting, and it would be the last time these two would see each other as children, thanks to Marcus, the enforcer commander who arrests and imprisons Vi.
That time apart left Powder vulnerable. As soon as she sees Silco, she embraces him, and he takes her in as a daughter. This ultimately led her to adopt Jinx as more than just a childhood nickname. She grew up becoming Silco's protege despite the split personality she developed due to unresolved issues with her older sister. This instability rubbed Silco's right hand, Sevika, the wrong way.
Once Jinx and Vi eventually met each other as grown-ups for the first time, it was clear the close sisterly bond they shared would never be the same again. It now became a classic case of sibling rivalry. While Jinx became the underground princess of Zaun, Vi became more familiar with Piltover. Her relationship with its enforcer, Caitlyn, grows from a reluctant partnership to a close bond that rubbed Jinx the wrong way.
Vi also met Jayce, the inventor behind Hextech. It was his apartment a much younger Vi, Powder, Mylo, and Claggor broke into during the first episode of Arcane's first season. How little these Arcane game characters realized what Hextech and fate had in store for them as season 1 progressed. What Powder stole from Jayce's apartment became a key component in psychologically transforming the young girl into Jinx.
Season Two: The Sisterly Rivalry Ends
The second season of Arcane's series picks up where the final episode of season one left off. Jinx's final act of season one fired a rocket destined for Piltover. It devastates the city, rendering Salo (also from League) crippled and causing the death of Caitlyn's mother. This is where fans see Caitlyn rise, assuming military control of Piltover. She also partners with Ambessa, the Noxian commander who is anxious to get her hands on Hexcore technology. It was the very threat Heimerdinger feared would happen when he unsuccessfully attempted to stop Jayce and Viktor from pursuing arcane-based technology in season one.
Season 2 was considerably more action-packed than season one. Piltover and Zaun were at war against each other. At the same time, so were the characters as the lines between friend and foe became blurred. Despite the chaos, season two ended a series that satisfied the LoL gaming audience and fans of the show who've never played Riot's most popular video title.
Despite so many Arcane League of Legends characters in-game bringing to the series, the storyline's core remained dedicated to Vi and Jinx. Despite their differences, the sisterly bond between the two remained strong to the end. Arcane's finale witnessed a mix of happy endings and sweet sorrows as fans watched their favorite heroes meet their final fate. The final act of Arcane season 2 ended with Jinx protecting Vi from a feral Vander (now known as Warwick) by seemingly blowing him and herself up. This enabled Vi to move on with her life with Caitlyn as the two ponder a possible future together.
