Lies of P is loosely based on The Adventures of Pinocchio, a 1883 novel written by author Carlos Collodi.  This is a game played by through a third-person’s perspective as the main character is controlled by the gamer through the city of Krat.  As Pinocchio, your travel will be met with hostile biochemical enemies.  To make things easier, you have access to weaponry such as axes, swords, and other gadgets to fight them off.

What defines the gameplay is the “Lying System” used by the player to determine the game’s outcome.  There are three different endings, each of them based on what sort of decisions you make as a player.  The “soulslike” approach to Lies of P is similar to what’s used for games such as Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro.

In Lies of P, Pinoccho wakes up in an abandoned train station belonging to the city of Krat.  As a player controlling him, you’re on a quest to find your creator, Gepetto.  However, this won’t be easy as you have to fight your way through the chaos of a city that has fallen.  Just like the novel, Pinocchio is still on the quest to transition from a humanoid figure to a living, breathing human being.

Is Lies of P worth it?  According to the Gamescon 2022 Awards, yes it is.  It won Best Action Adventure Game, Most Wanted Sony PlayStation Game and Best Role Playing Game.  As far as many reviewers who’ve had early access are concerned, Lies of P is worth it.  What you think about it should you get your hands on it is up to you.

This is a single player game so however you wish to pace yourself as a gamer is on you.  As far as the storyline goes, this was a decision made by the game development team to appeal to as many gamers as possible.  Lies of P behaves like a Pinocchio sequel or spinoff where the player gets to decide what the main character’s fate will be based on the decisions made during the course of the game.  That alone makes it appealing as it can be played a few different ways so you can find out for yourself how each of the three final outcomes turn out.
