¿Qué es un glosario gaming?
Un glosario gaming es un diccionario de las palabras que usan los jugadores: jerga como smurf o farmeo, siglas como KDA, AFK y DPS, y los nombres de estadísticas que cada género se inventa. El nuestro está escrito juego por juego, porque la misma palabra casi nunca significa lo mismo en un MMO, un shooter y un gacha. Cada entrada da primero el significado llano y después cómo se usa el término en la práctica.
¿Qué significan las siglas gaming más comunes?
GG es good game, se dice al final de una partida. AFK es away from keyboard, lejos del teclado. KDA son kills, deaths y assists. DPS es damage per second, y también el rol que reparte ese daño. MMR es matchmaking rating, el número oculto que decide contra quién juegas. LFG es looking for group. Cada una tiene su propia entrada con el detalle que una respuesta corta se deja fuera.

¿Cada cuánto se añaden términos nuevos?
De forma continua. Los juegos nuevos traen vocabulario nuevo, y los títulos de servicio en vivo renombran sus propios sistemas cada temporada, así que añadimos entradas según salen los juegos y las editamos cuando un parche cambia a qué apunta una palabra. Si falta un término que buscabas, dínoslo por soporte y lo escribimos.
¿Qué es la jerga gaming?
La jerga gaming es la taquigrafía que se inventan los jugadores para hablar en plena partida: noob, smurf, tryhard, sweaty, clutch, throw, feed, campear, nerf, buff. Casi toda nació en un juego y se extendió. Esta lista es la versión de trabajo: el significado que le da de verdad una sala, no el de un diccionario.
¿Qué siglas gaming debería conocer cualquier jugador?
GG, AFK, LFG, DPS, KDA, MMR, RNG, PvP, PvE, NPC, DLC, FPS, TTK, CC, AoE, la ETA de un intercambio. Con veinte te apañas en casi cualquier chat. Cada una tiene su entrada con lo que significan las letras y cuándo se usa la palabra, porque la mitad del lío viene de que un término dice una cosa en un shooter y otra en un MMO.
¿Qué significan términos de esports como meta, parche o nerf?
La meta es la forma más fuerte de jugar en este momento. Un parche es la actualización que la cambia. Un nerf debilita algo, un buff lo refuerza y un rework lo reconstruye. Entre los cuatro explican por qué el campeón, el arma o la unidad que usaba todo el mundo el mes pasado ya no la elige nadie, y por qué las guías caducan tan rápido.
¿Por qué la misma palabra significa cosas distintas en cada juego?
Porque los géneros toman palabras prestadas y las retuercen. Un carry es un rol en un MOBA y un servicio en un anuncio del mercado. Farmear es matar monstruos por botín en un MMO y aguantar una línea por oro en League. Por eso cada entrada va archivada bajo el juego al que pertenece, en vez de un único diccionario plano.
