¿Vale la pena la Caja de coleccionista de LoL Classic? Argumentos sinceros a favor y en contra
Riot has put a physical box on sale for a free game again, seventeen years after the first time, and this time everybody knows better than to laugh at it. The League of Legends Classic Collector's Box costs $89.99, it is limited and made to order, and the physical package is not scheduled to begin fulfilment until the very end of December 2026.
There is a lot of good in it and a few things that are being quietly misunderstood across every discussion I have read. So here is the honest version: what is in the box, what is genuinely worth the money, and what you should check before you spend it.
What Is Actually In It
Physical items:
Classic Collector's Box manual
A Runeterra map, described on the store page as totally legitimate
Classic Rune coasters
Victory and Defeat reversible keychains
Classic Champion Quotes sticker pack
Digital, delivered as the Classic Welcome Bundle:
Classic Season Pass
Annie Champion Shard and Alistar Champion Shard
Classic Annie in the Founder's Goth Classic Chroma
Classic Alistar in the Founder's Black Classic Chroma
Goth Annie Modern Skin and Black Alistar Modern Skin
Resplendent Explorer Ezreal Portrait
Two emotes
Digital, exclusive to the box:
Kayle Champion Shard
Silver Kayle Modern Skin
Classic Kayle in the Founder's Silver Classic Chroma
That last group is the actual reason to buy this thing, and I will come back to it.

The Case For: You Do Not Wait Until December
This is the detail most people miss and it changes the entire value calculation.
You do not have to wait for a cardboard box to arrive to get the digital content. Preorder today and the in game items land on your account with patch 26.15. The season pass, the skins, the chromas, the shards, the portrait, the emotes, all of it. The December date is when the physical package begins shipping, not when your account gets anything.
So if what you actually want is the digital content, you are buying it now and receiving it now. The coasters turn up later as a bonus.

The Case For: Silver Kayle Is Genuinely Box Only
Here is the part worth being precise about, because the three skins are not equally rare.
Goth Annie Modern and Black Alistar Modern are also available through the in client Classic Welcome Bundle. If you already bought that bundle, you already own them, and buying the box afterwards means paying again for content sitting in your collection.
Silver Kayle Modern, the Kayle shard, and the Founder's Silver Classic Chroma are exclusive to the Collector's Box. Nothing else grants them.
That matters because Silver Kayle is one of the most genuinely rare things in League's history. It shipped in November 2009 in the physical Retail Collector's Pack, at a moment when the playerbase was tiny and almost nobody was paying for a boxed copy of a game that was free. Riot switched the redemption codes off years ago and never brought it back until now.
So the honest version of the buying decision is: you are mostly paying $89.99 for the Kayle content and the physical items. If that framing still sounds fine to you, the box is a reasonable purchase. If it does not, you should look hard at the in client bundle instead.
Already Bought the Bundle or the Pass? Open a Ticket
This is the single most useful thing in this article and almost nobody knows it, so do not skim this part.
If you already bought the Classic Welcome Bundle, another Classic bundle, or even just the Classic Pass on its own, and you then decide to preorder the Collector's Box, open a support ticket with Riot. They will return the difference in RP.
You are not stuck paying twice. The overlap between the in client bundle and the box is real, but it is a solvable problem rather than a reason to skip the box.
The reason this needs a ticket rather than a click is that bundles and passes are not eligible for the normal in client refund token system, so there is no button in the shop that will do it for you. You have to ask a human. Do it, because the amount involved is not small: the Classic Welcome Bundle is priced in the thousands of RP, and that is a lot of currency to leave on the table out of not knowing you could ask.
Preorder first, then raise the ticket referencing both purchases.
The Case Against: These Are Champion Shards, Not Champions
A lot of people are reading this as "the box gives you Annie, Alistar and Kayle." It does not, quite.
What you get are champion shards for those three. That is not the same thing as owning the champions outright, and if you already own them, the shards do something different for you than they do for a brand new account. Check what you already have before you assume this is three free champions.
The Case Against: Founder's Is Not 2009
This is the one I care about most, and it is the thing being glossed over almost everywhere.
The skins in this box are the Founder's versions. Founder's Goth Annie, Founder's Black Alistar, Founder's Silver Kayle. They are recreations built for this release, and they are noticeably different from the skins that shipped in 2009. This is not a case of Riot pressing a button and reactivating dormant codes on the original assets.
If you are buying this expecting the exact skin that sat in your friend's account since the beta and made you slightly jealous for a decade, adjust that expectation now rather than after the purchase. What you are getting is a tribute to those skins, released alongside a mode that is itself a tribute. That is not a scam and it is not nothing. It is just not the original, and the marketing has not gone out of its way to make that distinction loud.
The Case Against: The Classic Content Is Locked to Classic
Read the store disclaimer, because it is easy to skim past. Classic skins, Classic chromas, and portraits can only be used in League of Legends Classic. They do not carry over into the main game.
The Modern skins do work in regular League. The Classic chromas do not. So a chunk of what you are buying is cosmetic content that only exists inside a mode, and how much that is worth depends entirely on how long you expect to keep playing that mode.
For what it is worth, I expect to be playing Classic for a long time. But that is my answer, not yours, and it is the right question to ask yourself before spending ninety dollars.
The Big Unanswered Question: Where Is Human Ryze?
Here is the thing nobody has addressed and I have not stopped thinking about since the box was announced.
The 2009 Retail Collector's Pack, the same one that contained Silver Kayle, also contained Young Ryze, sometimes called Human Ryze. Those two skins came in the same physical box, from the same era, with the same absurd rarity. Silver Kayle is back. Young Ryze is not mentioned anywhere in this bundle.
That is a strange gap, and it is a conspicuous one, because Ryze is in the Classic launch roster. He is playable right now. There is no technical reason a Founder's Young Ryze could not exist alongside the other three.
So either it is coming later as separate content, which would be irritating for anyone who bought this box expecting the full Retail Collector's set, or it is not coming at all, which would be a strange thing to leave on the table.
I do not have an answer. Nobody does yet. But if you are the sort of collector who wants the whole 2009 set, know going in that this box does not contain it.
So Should You Buy It?
Buy it if: you want Silver Kayle in any form, you are planning to play Classic long term, and you have not already bought the in client Classic Welcome Bundle. In that scenario the box is the only route to the Kayle content and the physical items are a genuine bonus.
Do not buy it if: you were only ever in it for Annie and Alistar, you are buying primarily for the physical items, or you were expecting the literal 2009 skins rather than new Founder's recreations. Note that already owning the Welcome Bundle is no longer a reason to skip the box, since the RP difference can be recovered through support.
Ninety dollars is a lot of money for a game that does not cost anything. It was a lot of money in 2009 too, which is exactly why so few people bought the original box and why Silver Kayle became legendary in the first place. There is something quite funny about Riot recreating that decision and handing it back to us seventeen years later, complete with the same uncomfortable pause before clicking purchase.
