Wardogs Season 2 starts on October 15, 2026, and the wipe resets your level, role progress and unlocked weapons, attachments and vehicles. Cosmetics bought with Gold Bars stay. If you have not bought the game yet, the next ten days matter more than the $39.99 price tag.

Wardogs is a 100-player, three-team king of the hill shooter from developer BULKHEAD and publisher Team17. It went into PC Early Access on September 10, 2026.

This is how GameBoost describes the season end, and the start date matches what Eldorado reports in its Early Access review. Treat details beyond that as subject to change, because Early Access systems move with patches.

Why the end of Season 1 is a bad time to start

A new player today faces people who already own the best gear. The Eldorado review points to late unlocks such as the BMR-308, FAL and the Vector (shown in game as SUPER 45) as a big step up from starting equipment. Level 3 armor can decide a firefight if the opponent has no armor-piercing ammo.

The same review notes that as more players reach those unlocks, the ones without them get "gear diffed": you land your shots and still lose. Open maps make it worse, with snipers, ghillie suits and thermal binoculars sitting on the edge of the circle.

Joining a few days before a reset means you spend your first hours against the strongest kits in the season. After October 15 everyone starts from basic equipment again.

How the Wardogs cash economy affects the wipe

Every player gets a one-time $10,000 bank, and loadouts, vehicles and supplies all come out of it. Money persists across lives and matches, and what you die with can be looted. This is confirmed on the Steam page, according to GameBoost.

Kill payouts are not official. Third-party trackers report roughly $300 for an open-ground kill, $1,500 in the Control Zone and $3,000 in the Hot Zone, and the numbers can change with any patch.

What matters for the wipe: cash is not a long-term asset, but Gold Bars are. Surplus cash converts into Gold Bars at season end, and those buy cosmetics that carry over. Gold Bars and cash cannot be bought with real money, and there is no battle pass, per GameBoost's buying guide.

Should you buy Wardogs now or after October 15?

The Eldorado reviewer recommends the game but suggests waiting for the new season, and I agree with that logic.

What this means for buying a Wardogs account

Because levels and unlocks reset every season, a high-level account has a short shelf life. Gear progress from Season 1 will not carry into Season 2. What does persist is cosmetics bought with Gold Bars, so those are the only part of an account that holds value across the wipe.

That is a reason to be cautious with anyone selling progress right before a wipe. Check what is actually included, and compare current offers on the accounts marketplace. Our how to buy guide explains the checks we recommend, and if you have an account to move before the reset, see how to sell.

Selling or buying accounts may break a publisher's terms in some games. Read the rules for Wardogs before you trade, and do not assume zero risk.

What could still change

  • Early Access is expected to run roughly 1 to 2 years, and the price is set to rise at full release.

  • More maps, weapons and vehicles are planned, but the developer reportedly will not add huge new vehicles or maps during Early Access seasons.

  • PC is the only platform for now. Console versions are reported as planned for 2028.

I have not verified these against a developer announcement, so check the Steam page before you spend money.
